Hangout Youth CIC

Being fans of the support they provide to LGBTQ+ youth in Leeds, we reached out to Hangout Youth CIC to offer them a website at a discounted rate. We’d seem them sharing their fundraiser on social media and knowing how important slick websites are for funders, we wanted to create something a little different for Hangout Youth CIC.

Lou asked us to create a bold visual design incorporating stickers, scrapbooks, and the youth group attendees’ own drawings. I’m really proud of the work Bracken did on this project. The stickers, photo frames and background were all put together by her.

This project also involved incorporating some JavaScript, which is generally rare on a WordPress project (I’m not complaining). There are six variations of The Hangout logo, each with a different Pride flag colour scheme. I wrote some code to display a different logo image on each page refresh. Try it out for yourself!

I used GeneratePress again for this website. It really is a straight-forward and simple WordPress theme that transitions well to being mobile responsive. I like the Containers in the page editor and the option to set global styles for blocks. Add in being able to copy and paste elements to different pages and it all just goes so smoothly.

I embedded a sign up form for new service users and referrals, as well as handling the domain, DNS and hosting for the website. I also installed an accessibility widget and we selected Open Dyslexic as the font.
